Sinopse: The chapter analyses the demand for protection in the USA against foreign competition from Brazilian producers of frozen concentrated orange juice. A series of unfair trade actions was initiated as a safeguard device for local producers in the 80´s. The result was the increase of oligopolistic coordination among Brazilian firms, increasing long-term welfare costs for consumers around the world.
